Jinasena Training and Rehabilitation Trust, which was first known as JINASENA TSUNAMI REHABILITATION TRUST was established in early 2005, by the Directors of Jinasena Group to provide Tsunami relief work to mainly in the Western and Provinces.
After completing the Tsunami related Rehabilitation work undertaken, in 2007, the Trustees decided to change the mandate of the trust to enable it undertake youth training / rehabilitation and Environmental protection / Rehabilitation work. The Name change coincided with this.
JTRT's vision is to build a nation founded on social justice, ethical leadership and values through a committed workforce through the facilitation of the training of young people to become skilful, talented and ethical in their work and contribute positively as good citizens of the world.

University of Colombo facilitates higher education for visually impaired students from all over the island. Every year significant number of visually impaired students gain admission to UOC to follow variety of courses. This number has consistently increased during the past few years. Sooriya Bandara Rajamanthrindrarama Maha Viharaya, Payyagala is recongnized as a leading vocational training center known or youth in Kaluthara District. The center is known as Conny Computer Center (CCC). Agiyo Lanka Ltd., a BOI approved European company operating from Biyagama FTZ has donated a fully equipped technical training center to the temple, where 100 students can undergo training at a time. The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) has selected Sri Lanka as one of the five beneficiary countries for an extended school connectivity project, while tasking the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka (TRCSL) with the implementation of this ITU project in Sri Lanka based on the model of a private public partnership.
